Morning After

Through frosted panes in the snow
I see your footprints come and go.
Last night has left no more to show.
Not the melting kisses, dark rich wine,
Or sensual loving, just this little sign
Of your life stepping into mine.
But when footprints fade in tearful rain
Will what we woke to still remain
In joyful love or regretful pain?

Very nice. Now here's a thought {and a challenge} for you ~ to write the same sentiments along similar lines in another season without the snow...
