It pounds and crashes like waves on rocks.
Like strong winds to a barn door, it rattles and knocks.
It cuts and slices like a butcher’s fine knife.
Like the grim reaper of death, it takes away life.

It separates families like a married mans affair.
Like utter frustration, it causes you to pull out your hair.
It haunts you and taunts you there’s nowhere to hide.
By it’s tormenting rules you’re forced to abide.

You kick, you howler, you scream, yell and fight.
You pray for relief from its hair raising bite.
No rest, no relief, no time to relax.
You feel it from the pit of your stomach to the swell of your back.

It comes, it goes, it comes back with full force.
It’s relentless attack shows no sign of remorse.
You feel as if death will be your sentence today.
Then the medicine kicks in and Mr. Pain goes away.
