Hank and Johnny,
Playing on the eight tracks.
John, Paul, George and Ringo,
Were there as well.
Don and Glenn singing,
"A Good day in Hell!"
We took it easy,
As we stood next,
To Jimi's fire.
And Dylan saw,
"Blood on the tracks,
As he sang about "Desire."
It was a musical melting pot,
As Floyd put another brick in the wall.
We climbed the "Stairway to Heaven",
With "Freebird" on our shoulder.
And "Can't you see,"
We were "Staying Alive!"
To the voices of the Bee Gee's
Croce had a name,
Elvis had a "Sucipous mind.
While Buffet was in "Margaretville,"
With Nilsson having a coconut,
And a ripe lime.
Abba was a "Dancing Queen,"
Mac and Nicks were caught
In a "Landslide"
Trying to "Go their own way."
Satanana was under a spell,
Of a "Black magic woman!"
Miller flew like an eagle,
As Chicago sat crossed legged on the floor,
Chanting "25, 6 to 4!"
It was a musical melting pot
I am sure you can add more
Love was a heartbreaker
As Pat crossed loves battlefield
We had "Heart",
Sisters Wilson, Nancy and Ann
Belting out "Barracuda" and "Magic Man."
We had soul,
O Jays, Wild Cherry, Gladys and the Pips."
It was a wonderful musical trip.
We felt "Good Vibrations,"
And heard the "Pet sounds,"
As we watch the round platters,
Go round and round.
Rafferty took us
"Right down the line."
As the musical melting pot
Helped us get through,
The turbulent times.
So here I sit looking back,
"Rockin' down the highway.
"Listening to the music,"
Of my bittersweet youth,
Smiling cause I am stoned,
On the musical melting pot.
