Once I met a man and I thought he was an angel
He was fragile and confused and flawed
not God-like at all
And yet every sentence, every word he uttered
filled me with a sense of euphoria
As if a powerful being had reached into my soul
and etched his name across my heart
Claiming it as his forever

One time he wrote “I love you” to me 150 times
He said he wanted to make sure I knew it to be true
and I did, with every breath and thought
I knew it deep down inside, at a cellular level
It was like I was born with the knowledge within me
just waiting for him to awaken the hidden truth
No angel, a mere mortal with a divine soul that touched me
and made me his disciple, a believer in true love
