You said I could fly,
You said that I could reach the sky,
You took me there,
I followed, fingers tangled in your streaming hair,
My heart had wings.

You had lifted me up,
or maybe you had just opened my eyes,
The world around me was so far away,
My troubles had all gone astray.
Wrapped in my song,
you said you felt the same,
Beneath my hips,
you panted my name.
Now you have left me and here do I lie,
You broke my wings, and I no longer fly.
