Walls I’ve painstakingly built

Collapsing, crumbling

Thoughts swirling, swarming

Walling myself in again

Afraid, safe from the hurt

Taking a chance, opening up

Emerging from my protective shell

Shedding the worry and doubt

Stretching out, opening myself up

Becoming me.
