My Daughter's Cake

Copyright oggbashan August 2016 (written 2007)

Kate made me a cake,
Her very own cake.

There were crumbs...

Crumbs on the mat
Crumbs on the cat
Crumbs in the cat
Crumbs on the mat on which the cat sat.

There was fat...

Fat on the mat
Fat on the cat
Fat in the cat
Fat on the mat on which the cat sat.

There were crumbs on the sill
Crumbs on the bill
For the fat
In the cat,
On the mat.

There were crumbs in the drawer
Crumbs on the floor
Crumbs on the door.
Crumbs! Even more...

There was egg
On the leg
Of the chair
On the stair
In her hair.

She said ‘twas not the cat
Twas the cake that went splat
To spread the egg, the fat
And the crumbs on the mat.

I don't mind the fat
Or the mess on the cat...

But here's the rub...
She's gone to the pub
On perhaps to a club;
She'll be home late,
Perhaps with a mate.

The cake was great.
Thank you, Kate.
