My Empty Heart

Walking out onto the pier thinking
That what I had done was wrong and so long ago
The sky is clear
Unlike the day I admitted to you
That I was in love with you
The sky was full of clouds and the ocean gray
But my heart was full with the love I felt for you.
I didn’t realize this until we were walking
Along the beach and as we stopped
I looked into your eyes
At the very moment I knew
That you were the one I wanted to spend my life with
Grow old with, like our love
Growing more and more each day.
That was the best day of my 45 years on this earth
It was hard admitting this to you
It made me vulnerable to be hurt
But also open to be loved by the woman of my dreams
I was so scared that you would hurt me
Like so many times before but it was worth
Any pain I would have to endure
I had to tell you
I love you and I’m in love with you
I see it as though it were yesterday
Like the day I asked you
Will you marry me?
The clouds in the sky were like the sun
Shining bright in the sky
You have made me so very happy Sallie Ann
You showed me that I could love Once more
You showed me that I could trust Once more
You showed me that I could be honest with out fear Once more
You gave me a son I could love
Like never before Once more.
You showed me I could hurt deep inside Once more
You showed me that I could forgive anything Once more
Now I can tell you thank you Once more
Even with an empty heart because you left I still can love you
Once more.
