My Friend Nancy looked at me, saw my tears, felt my pain,
Touched my hand gently and said to me......
"Girl you've got to get over him."
My friend hugged me to her, offering me love and care,
Gave me her healing strength and said to me....
"Girl you've got to let him go."
My friend talked to me not at me,
She cried with me and for me and said....
"Girl he don't deserve you."
My friend sat with me and listened for hours, she watched over and protected me,
As I relived the last year of my life and said....
"Girl you are beautiful."
My friend stood guard over me,
Kept me safe from all harm and said....
"Girl you are going to make it."
My friend helped me through the night,
She cared as only a true friend can and said....
"Girl don't let him make you leave me behind."
My friend stood beside me, helped me be strong,
She was strong, and pure, she pulled me up and out and said....
"Girl always remember, He is just a man."
