hearts been broken
many times before
patched and glued it
and put it back for more
just the way i am
too trusting and giving
but to keep it to myself
would not define living
so i'll do it again
and hope for the best
that the next man
will be smarter than the rest
he'll know what a gift
this heart of mine is
and take better care
of the prize that is his
