You weren’t my first, but you were my last,
We looked in the future, not in the past.
You’re the love of my life, my heart and my soul,
To try and make it work, that was our goal.

We had our problems, our fights and our woes,
Take two total opposites and that’s how it goes.
There was so much in our lives we had to gain,
It was worth the fights, the tears and the pain.

But as we grow older, the times going by,
We get to do all those things we wanted to try.
The kids are both gone, It’s just you and me,
We laugh and we love, that’s the way it should be.

I’m not sure what kept us together so long,
I am sure though that together we belong.
I can’t imagine my life without you in it,
You’re the man of my dreams, we really do fit.
