Gliding silently through the night
A sleek form hidden in sable shadow
Savagery and beauty intertwined
Prowling, ever searching for prey
Nothing escapes her notice
Nothing escapes her hunger

She pauses and licks her lips
She sees her prey, has caught it's scent
Quivering in anticipation she hesitates
Silently preparing for the chase
Suddenly, she vaults forth
Unstoppable, a juggernaut

Pouncing upon her prey
Her quarry pinned and at her mercy
Head lunging forward, teeth biting flesh
Claws that leave weeping wounds
A snarl escapes her lips
As she satisfies her hunger

Finally satiated, she moves away
A purr drifting from her lips
Her untamed nature briefly satisfied,
Exhaustion carries her off to sleep
To the only peace for one as she,
To whom even love is violence

Exquisite choice of words!

Two lines in particular caught my fancy "Claws that leave weeping wounds" and the last line of the poem "To whom even love is violence." The dark beauty of the language paints a vivid and pleasantly disturbing picture. You are a true wordsmith.

Bravo!

You've done it again. You have a wonderful way with dark poetry.
