My Lovely Wee Beastie
Aw, God love yer soul, ma' lovely wee Beastie,
Ye were sent tae me sure, wi' love tae gi' me.
Fair years we've had, since ye started as pup,
The mischief and foolery, till finally grown up.
Oor lives ha'e been one, ma best friend, well said,
Ye showed me true love, ne'er questioned, ne'er led.
It's been honest and true, there's no one can deny,
That oor bond of good friendship, we've come tae rely.
Ye've stuck by me true, through the good and the bad,
ne'er gi'en up on me, ne'er looked at me mad.
Whene'er ma' hand's oot, yer head's always near,
Fer a pat, or a stroke, or a scratch a yer ear.
It took little tae please ye, ye wonderful brute,
A walk and a sniff, and a wee chase aboot,
A good bone tae gnaw, a few lovely treats,
A desire tae please me, wi' some a yer feats.
I look at ye noo, yer eyes getting wan,
Soon tae leave me, soon tae be gone.
Know in yer soul, that I love ye so dear,
Nae more can I call ye, and want ye near,
Nae more can I hold ye, get a lick or a hug,
Nae more scolding curses, at the holes ye ha'e dug.
God rest yer auld soul noo, ye've lived yer life well,
Ye've done yer best so, and pleased me, I'll tell,
Tho' ma heart's full of words, there's nae more I can say.
I hold ye tight close, yet ye fast slip away.
Oh, hoo I'll miss ye, nae more can ye be,
ma best friend I'll kno', ma lovely wee Beastie.
