Soothing is a rope pulled tight
Quiet is a bitten lip
In the calm before the slap
Grateful is a circling hip

I feel safe here on my knees
All my power in your hands
In the calm before the slap
That, and more, you understand

We can stretch the hours like taffy, slow my hyperactive brain
When you slip the blindfold off, my world is bright and new again

Firm is your hand in my hair
Fair is your tongue on my skin
In the calm before the slap
Penance comes before the sin

Soothing is a rope pulled tight
Quiet is a bitten lip
In the calm before the slap
You know how to make me drip

We can stretch the hours like taffy, slow my hyperactive brain
When you slip the blindfold off me, I am bright and new again
