Hi, my name is Dave, and this is my profile
I’m not really sure how this works
But I’m here online to meet a woman
and I assume most of the men here are jerks

"Nothing ventured, nothing gained" is what they all say
so I thought that I’d give it a try
and see if I can find a unique lady
who’s looking for an average guy

I’m five foot ten, one-sixty-four
I like movies and music and fun
Well, that’s about it, what more can I say
my profile’s over before I’ve barely begun

Let’s see, my eyes are green,… my hair is brown…
Oh, did I mention that my name is Dave?
I think that’s it, I guess, not much else
there’s only one more thing that I crave

A rain of ruby red rose petals
drifting down, then floating in the pool
I’d love to have that kind of lovesick love
that makes you act a like a fool

What is life, if not a dream?
And what a dream is love!
Flowers and a card; candies and a heart
that beats on the wings of a dove

If you want what you think you really want
then look, and you just might find
see the moments that lie right ahead of us
and the years that are left stretching behind

I could tell you that I had a very cool job
and worked at a really cool place
that I made a little bit of money
and maybe even show you my face

let you see my thoughts wrought in print
pouring out of my poor heart just for
a sweet lilting song of a memory
hoping that you’ll hope for more

another melody floating inside my head
the same song to a different tune
but until I find someone to sing them for
I’ll sing my songs to the moon

Whoever said that the stars were diamonds
sparkling against a black velvet sky?
He must have been a poet! And wouldn’t you know it?
Even HE has to ask himself why

Why is love such a puzzle? Such a funny, silly game?
Who will find it, and where, and when?
Everything that has past is now a prologue
to a different tale than the author intends

Well, that’s it, that’s me, that’s who I am
and I hope that you’ll drop me a line
we could have ourselves a torrid romance
or maybe go see a movie sometime

Something new may be beginning
because in life, things are seldom as they seem
and if you fall in love with a dream of love
Is that really love, or is it only a dream?
