She once had star light in her eyes.
But I let that twinkle fade and die,
Now I know the how and why.
For she was the queen of my heart,
Always was right from the start.
As my love grew and grew,
I was never really sure what to do.
I had found heaven on earth,
I felt as if she was of royal birth.
She was in command of my heart and hand,
I would follow any order read.
But for my queen,
I did not act like a king.
I acted more like a slave,
Scared and tried to behave.
Now I stand by my throne,
Sad, hurt and alone.
Growing old with age,
And filled with a burning rage.
To be that shinning knight,
To swing my sword with great might.
Standing tall, firm and upright,
Just to hold my queen through the night.
To pull the light from the sky,
Just to put it back in her eye.
This would be my greatest quest,
I would go without food, drink or rest.
I would take my kingdom to war,
Lead the charge with a knights roar.
Dodge, Perry and thrust,
Turn the enemy into dust.
I have fought this battle,
And caused my bones to rattle.
It took a long time to see,
But, the real enemy is ME.
When you see the light,
Serving as a knight,
You use all your might,
to try and set it right.
The only way to be a king,
Is to let your heart sing,
And let the bells ring.
That is how to be a king, for your queen.
