Click hereI gaze at the woman beside me in bed
on a pile of pillows she now rests her head
The picture right now is quite old and gray
but my mind wanders back to an earlier day
Back in that day hair was brown touched with fire
Her passion toward me was a burning desire
As she walked down the street many heads would turn round
She would walk with her feet barely touching the ground
But the years as they pass still have been quite kind
The pictures still fresh that I hold in my mind
In the seasons of life what has just passed is fall
I remember days dancing in a great fancy hall
Winter is here, things are now cold and white
but my mind wanders back to an earlier night
In the passion of springtime in earlier year
I could face the cruel world and have not a fear
With her by my side, at the start of each day
"For this woman now, I thank God." I would pray
To have such a mate is a joy beyond measure
To hold her at night is a wonderful treasure
The vigor of youth is replaced now with age
But my mind wanders back to an earlier page
This book I am writing, this book of my life
Is devoted as I am to my precious wife
