naked in america

i am standing here naked in america
and i can see all of the shining stars
that there are to distinguish in dallas
well yes i know thats not very many
but then hey at least i am able to say
i am eager and filled with observation

or maybe its just the moon has set
beneath the hushed erotic cornfields
that grow all over the state of iowa
and here in the silent universe spy
the pierced jewels and pearl necklace
of a shamelessly buttnaked galaxy

perhaps captured on a carolina coast
you take off your clothes beneath the
unblinking eye of the voyeur moon
maybe a sultry breeze stiffens nipples
and when a groan escapes your lips
the moon moans and begins to sweat

or we could be two manhattan poets
and so wonderfully naked and alive
in the greatest city in at least america
and casually feeling ourselves up as
we create and trade our latest poems
over that sexy little telephone we use

but here we have gathered in houston
and deciding now to moon the full moon
we pull down our collective britches
and then we launch our asses skyward
towards roman candle stars exploded
high above our exposed american butts

so this is how it is naked in america
we are learning to love ourselves again
because our precious liberties free us
to pursue the justice of our lusty loins
as i stand beneath a washed out sky
deep in the hard heart of horny texas.
