You were the narcissus
I was the mirror
Two souls, separated by the sheen of glass
I reached for you
And you turned from me

You were my narcissus
White silk in the touch of my
Fingertips
Mist in the air
And we dissipate

I remember your warmth
As if, in the lingering dark
You appear
Over the treetops
And we soar together again

I was the narcissus
One fragile flower
Asleep on the banks of a river
I begged you to stay
And you laughed

And pined away
Until in the dawn I remain
We were one soul
Alive in each other
Yet still, one reflection prevailed

And we walked away
From the flower
The glass
And the moon.

We are the narcissus
