Not even the most
revolutionary
device of these
newfangled days
is truly weatherproof -
the grossest
modernity will
turn to a homely
tribute to
the passing of time,
dust-covered,
fouled by birds and
crusted with dirt.
Its age-old web
strategically
suspended from a
ferocious projection
a diadem spider
is patiently waiting,
unimpressed by
military discipline
or any scientific
tour de force, and
acceptance by
the populace
will be made
manifest when the
lower parts are
covered in scrawls and
signals, cabalistic
communications and
dance party posters,
peeling, discoloured -
hardly provocative.

A slice of reality

And not sugar-coated, either! Well done! I love the contrast between the artificial and the natural...and a spider's web is a delightfully humbling one! Love it!
