The excitement, the joy,
the promise of nature,
tears of happiness, sounds of glee,
the making of two in love.

The moans of sickness,
the signs of the struggle,
the foods unwanted,
the promise of nature.

The foods now wanted,
the touch now desired,
the wishes now wanted,
the things not just for one any longer.

The stretching and pulling,
the awkwardness of being one becoming two,
the sadness, the happiness,
the waiting seemingly unending.

The excitement of the coming,
the frantic dashing,
the cries of pain and joy mixed,
the pain always remembered and would endure for love.

The promise of nature,
the one is now two,
the two is now three,
the look of the new innocence of that small face.

The cries of want now beaconing,
the cries of need now screaming,
the unending care now needed,
the signs of love given and received in silence.

The sweetness of the scent,
the glistening of the eyes,
the softness of the touch,
the promise of love made true.

The young eyes that watch,
the young eyes that learn,
the young eyes that bring life to even the old,
the young eyes that now want to learn.

The promise of nature
to the flower and the stem,
the gift of life, love and hope,
the nature of the promise of life,
my sweetest baby.
