I become more rounded,
Immaturity is shed off the curves
Of my hips
My gentle misdemeanor
Sings lullabies
To the baby born from me
My breasts are full
Of life,
I cross one fleshy thigh over the other,
You are nestled in the crook of my knee
You stare lovingly up at me
I am a new mother
Born from my own
And I will continue this legacy
Of mothering a child,
So small you are,
With potential running wild
You can be all you want to be,
My own mother's words come back to me
Hush, sweet thing
I am here, and will always be
I am your mother
And what a privilege it is
