For Karen B.

Tell me your wishes and I'll tell you mine,
and dazzle my eyes with your eyes' shine -
the moon is down but your far friend keeps
a smiling vigil while the cold house sleeps.

I give you a cue and you add three more
And I feel drawn out like never before -
the night is dark but your thoughts are bright
and they light my heart up all this night.

I sit here and smile as the night hours creep
and I pray for the rest to stay fast asleep -
I wait for each sign and my ears rejoice
at the slightest sound of your night-time voice.

Sweet!

There's such love in this poem...deep, tender, delighted. A good friend is like clean air -- life-sustaining. And distance is no impediment! A lovely, heartfelt poem indeed!
