Time and again night sings
the same old song -
turned into yourself, like an

old tangerine gone hard and
armoured against all
outside influence you lie

rejecting. All your defences -
knees, elbows, silence - are up.
Long use has taken part

of the hurt away, though: I
no longer ask myself
where I went wrong.
