I stand alone on strange terrain
Beneath the too-harsh glare of an alien sun
Whose light illuminates, but does not warm.

Unfamiliar flowers open around me
The chill air fills with their perfume
Am I dreaming, or is this Home?

A vast sea lies before me, unfathomable
Depths which seek to swallow me whole.
They reach with breaking waves for my feet

That stand, thinly planted in crystal sand.
Balance lost, I strive in vain to gain my footing
Then, swept away by tepid waters
I hold my breath and wait to drown.
