No birds sing where winter freeze heralds dawn,
they fly, shadows left frozen to the garden gate
huddled in the tree tops unpreened and forlorn.

Deepest snow blizzards covers night to morn
the earth shivers, and hides her head too late,
no birds sing where winter freeze heralds dawn.

Sun dies a cruel death her heat withdrawn
small feathered ones cling to life and wait,
huddled in the tree tops unpreened and forlorn.

The sky depressed and sullen seeks to warn
decreasing temperature seals their fate,
no birds sing where winter freeze heralds dawn

A struggle to survive this weather thrawn
feathers ruffled from a slowed heart rate
huddled in the tree tops unpreened and forlorn.

To late hope dies for some all heat withdrawn
life ebbs from those too cold to insulate.
No birds sing where winter freeze heralds dawn
huddled in the tree tops unpreened and forlorn.

Good show!

Nice work UYS! That must have felt good - it did reading it.

Really great work on this poem. This line is fabulous: huddled in the tree tops unpreened and forlorn

some very good lines, great use of forlorn and preen.
