I always thought I was indebted to you,
When I really owed my own heart.
Why should I worry what you feel-
If it doesn't touch me?
Why should I care if it makes you cry-
If for me the emotion is vacant?
I always loved you more than myself.
I've tried to strengthen your foundations
With the fibres of my being.
I've given you too much already -
There's nothing left to give anymore.
Our relationship is hollow now.
It is cold, abandoned and empty
Like the bed we never shared.
Time to reclaim what is mine.
The happy ending is mine alone-
No prince required.
