Not to touch,
Not to speak,
Not to know,
Not to feel.
Corded constricting colors,
Strands blistering yellow
Strands tannic brown
Strands breathless scarlet
Strands varicose black
Each strand pulled,
Tighter, creaking
Tighter, cracking
Tighter, popping
Tighter, snapping
Not a life at all,
A harness
A collar
A snare
A noose
