He doesn’t like to eat anything that might make a mess
that should have told me something
or that he’s got lovelier hands than I,
so elegant and tapered like
they were meant to dance on ivory stones
over ebony pools
Ignoring signs as if illiterate
“I love him” and that’s just that
No pause for logic in a rain to wash
across sightlines and sorrows bringing
fog and rivulets so it’s easier to ignore
those signs
