What was our love.
Built on lies, and pain from our pasts.
You expected me to be your saving grace.
I expected you to be my shining light.
Obviously both of us wasn't too bright.
I refused to be your refuge, and you pulled the wool over my eyes.
Our emotions reduced to scattered words pushed through a filter.
Our bodies clung to each other as our souls pushed away.
Tears stung behind blind eyes.
We cried at the notion of losing something that had already been lost.

What was our love.
The cliche is that love conquers all then why couldn't it heal our flaws.
You had never been loved. I had never been held.
I loved you with my lips, you held me with your arms.
Tell me why that wasn't enough.
I tried to cleanse the sores of your soul with my innocence.
You tried to hug away my insecurities .
Those things work in movies, but didn't work for us.

What was our love.
I told you my sins, although the worst ones where hidden behind grins.
You begged to see the real me, but she hid.
I begged for the truth, but got a editorial.
It was the both of us.
Passions bottled in an hourglass. Running out with no one to turn it over.
The fire under my skin now a slow sizzle.
My heart quivers with a dull ache worst than death.
Was it love?
