I see the blood trickling down my legs
But I can’t feel my fingernails digging into my skin
I see the frozen hail on my blue gloveless fingertips
But I can’t feel the sting
Punch me, hit me, hate me
My body is lifeless and devoid of sensation
I see you trying not to stare from across the room
Your hostile, contemplating eyes reflected in my whiskey glass
Intently
Blatantly
I can only feel your presence
Because I can’t feel you tonight
I have no reflex
When your words slap me across the face
I can only feel my heart
And it’s in pain
Because yours is numb
