Our love slipped into oblivion
When venus slid across the sun
Scorched my love for you
Burned desire into my flesh

Peeled off layers of emotions
Stripped me naked to the bone
Where my love for you used to lie
Under layers of opaque emotions

Our love slipped into oblivion
A casualty of jealousies and insecurities
Aphrodite's right hand slighted us
Prematurely brought us to a casual end

Carelessly I closed my eyes
Lost sight of the ground beneath my feet
As I watched falling stars burn across the sky
Through psychedelic colored glasses

Our love slipped into oblivion
When venus slid across the sun
Scorched my love for you
Burned desire into my flesh

Our relationship has been eclipsed
By my crimson lunar tendencies
That blackened out your solar daze
As we tripped over cosmic mishaps

Our love slipped into oblivion
Went too far North South East and West
Don't know how to get it back on track
It's gone too far off our galactic map

Somehow it slipped inside in the milky way
Somewhere inbetween the big and little dipper
Not even the north star can guide us back
To our original point of conception

Our love slipped into oblivion
When venus slid across the sun
Scorched my love for you
Burned desire into my flesh

Even though I'll always love you
I'll move on to another galaxy
Where stars don't burn out before their time
Blighting the ever perfect celestial skies

Our love slipped into oblivion
When you started feverishly chasing
One too many stray comets across the sky
Disrupting our intergalactic harmony

So I'll go my interplanetary way
Catch a ride on Saturn's rings
Then soar through Mars' red sky
While venus has my heart in retrograde

Our love slipped into oblivion
When venus slid across the sun
Leaving stardust coated memories
Floating inside the ethers of my mind

this pulls me....

in right from the start. my favorite stanza:

Even though I'll always love you

I'll move on to another galaxy

Where stars don't burn out before their time

Blighting the ever perfect celestial skies

You have written...

a celestial beauty of a poem for a relationship failed. Only you, Savannah could pull that one off and make it sound so bitter sweet exquisite! I loved the metaphors you penned for this piece - I'm still in the heavens from them! <smile>

!

Relationships really do have a way of taking on universal dimensions and slipping further through time and space.
