Crisp air bends and kisses ground with teary drops of dew
That glisten softly silent as they bathe the ground anew
Maple leaf so green and proud bows downward without shame
Willing to transform his coat to colours all aflame
Remnants of the summer ride with whispers on the breeze
Leaving just enough behind in hollows of the trees

Fields of orange pumpkins gather giggling to their peers
With vines that slither like the snake emitting inner fears
Raging river coolly welcomes salmon from the sea
But her return is brief and fast where she dies peacefully
While sun retracts his outstretched rays turning down his heat
Moon puts on his widest grin parading his conceit

Robin leaves for warmer lands but knows he will return
His brother chickadee remains residing in the fern
Frog croaks out his last refrain then leaps and takes a bow
His cousin cricket chirps applause as long as time allows
Royal wind beings to blow his presence he makes known
Reminding all that he is King and nature his to own

Autumn rises up with pride though takes his time to stand
To shout the coming of the cold when winter grabs the land
But now it’s Queen October’s turn to proudly heed the call
To show off all her glory, to amaze and to enthrall
And though attempts are often made to end October’s reign
Her ever graceful movements are their loss and our gain
