Oh, come, sweet wings of darkness;
    Embracing, I slumber soon.
Open thy folds of black-dark night.
    Thy silvered brooch, the Moon
Has Her eye upon thee, pitch clouds;
    Her night-dwelling friend the star
All-seeing what thou encompass despite
    Thy efforts his sight to bar.

Sweep down your wings of darkness;
    Enclose thy blackest feathers
Around the land so fully fast,
    Unseeing of thy fickle weathers.
Come, dear wings of blackest night,
    Cup the winds to hold back dawn.
Enjoy thy domain for a while more,
    Of the land thy spell's upon.

Wind-whipped the clouds for a crown,
    Encircling thy jetted, onyx hair.
Away thou blow or breathe in close,
    Ruling day's dawning to foul or fair.
Awash with awe, I dispense the light
    I used to ready my sleeping-place;
And so, in darkness, I lie awake,
    And wait for thy dearest embrace.

{Author's Note: This poem was written a long time ago, but it has haunted me for roughly fourteen years with the lyrical, impassioned words I wrote it with. Even in the stormiest weather, I feel wrapped in peace and love, when I lie in the embrace of the night.}

Bella,

Loved the imagery...so vivid and intense.

All your stuff both this and the fan fictions you write have touched and inspired me. Thank you.
