      "I am the lizard King
      I can do anything"
          Jim Morrison

Oh, lizard king
how I craved your pain
when I heard you sing,
I felt the hard rain
and looked to the sky
when I knew that love
wouldn’t fade, couldn't die,
‘til stars fell from above.
Suddenly you passed
to your fragrant night,
yet all that I asked
was to touch your light.

You could do anything
and I wish you’d stayed
to, just once more, sign
when the music played.

Kill this line

"to your fragrant night," or at least fragrant

I'm curious as to why the abab rhyme with such short lines.
