(on "live and let die," the hugely popular song by Paul McCartney)

Tell me,
do you REALLY want to
"live and let die?"

Because, see,
I'm the one who dies

I'm the junkie,
the gay guy,
the cocky "black buck,"
the "primitive" arab,
the hippie,
the h.i.v. positive,
the psycho,
the china-woman,
the welfare recipient,
the idiot,
the liberal:
hell, even the conservative,
and the bourgeious

Maybe you thought
no-one was listening
to your 60s flower-child dreams,
but I did,
and I believed it...

and I'M the one who dies
really

Couldn't we give peace a try?
"keep talking?"
