Graffiti sticks like pollen
to every rust dull industrial wall,
every concrete grey underpass,
this season.

Some monochrome seedling tags
forgotten by its planters,
some bloomed into atonal
fanfares of color, rivalling
autumn itself in flair.

"Keep the city pretty!"
the high and mighty bellow,
throw millions at imaginary
nemeses and return
the underpass and factory
to concrete grey and rust red.

Then leaves too surrender,
and everything is
monochrome.

monochrome

not sure of the use of monochrome here, looks weak, gratuitous

"Some monochrome seedling"

you've doubled monochrome, without play

nemeses?

same here - we all know how smart you are - gratuitous

minor nits, though

Very nice

I love the organic metaphor contrasted with the industrial setting and pallette.

Excellent poem, Monster.

The message here with

Graffiti gone

Grey and rust lose

All their color and the

Sanctimonious preen.
