Under the bridge
Between Alameda
and Oakland
I stopped from my afternoon run
To push a man in a wheelchair
Up the hill to a store on
Fruitvale Avenue

He thanked me
For helping him

And after he did so
He wept
Like a baby

Little kindnesses
Have a way of doing that
When the world craps on you
