It was all that I wanted,
all I felt I had left.
But it was denied me,
it was forbidden by you.

What I could have done with it,
what I could have done with you if I had it.
The mind cannot help but wonder,
the heart cannot help but hurt.

To see your eyes,
to gaze upon you one last time.
To feel your warm embrace,
to hold your hand in mine.

To touch you,
to feel your body pressed against mine.
A kiss, or at least, one last “I love you,”
before we part for all time.

It was all I wanted,
the simplest thing.
Now I am forever denied...
one last moment.
