My baby enters the room
calling out my name
are you in here my love
her words are all in vain
for I have left the manor
to search for her that night
I set out to find my love
to look deep into her eyes
so she would know I really care
that my love was hers for life
when I returned to find her note
a tear rolled down my cheek
my baby was here to give me her love
but she could not wait
she thought I gave up and walked away
searching for another heart
to find a light from someone else
warming my lonely nights
the final line of that note
still haunts me to this day
my love for you was an unconditional one
the kind you don't throw away
I would be with my love tonight
if I had waited just one more day
