I open up weary eyes to be greeted by the dawn
It is long past the time when I should have gone
But I could not seem to tear myself from your side
Should I stay or go, I just can't seem to decide
So, instead, I watch you as you lay there sound asleep
And the growing light of morning makes the shadows creep
Soft, lustrous locks seem to lay a frame about your face
I long to reach out and touch them and feel their subtle grace
You have become every dream to which I forever cling
And yet, you somehow remain oblivious to the joy you bring
I once thought such feelings forever beyond me
But, I was wrong, as you have made me see
I would give anything to make this moment last
But even now, I feel it has become a thing of the past
