Written for Tony on 3/26/2002

It fits me like a worn old flannel shirt.
Beaten up with age and use but still very functional.
I would survive if I didn’t have it but I choose not to live without it.
It’s been there so long
It feels so right
I don’t remember a time without it.

I was not whole until I met you.
A soul adrift in treacherous waters
Every sappy sentiment ever written reminds me of you
Every card and poem and story
Every great romance movie ever made.
Every hokey country song reminds me of our love.
