Sometimes it’s deep inside,
Enough to make you want to run and hide,
Often it’s their no matter what you try,
You try and bottle it down and not to cry.
Minutes feel like hours,
hours feel like days,
The sweet goes with the sour,
At least that’s how some say.
When you least expect it, it can hit you hard,
It can be the loss of a loved one,
Or just a silly little card,
Or seeing a daughter or son.
There’s no end to that pit you may feel deep down,
You can’t stave it off,
Nor leave it like a town,
Nor make it go away like a bad cough.
In the end you have to struggle to break free,
To look past the bad and find the good,
That’s all you’ll need to do you see,
Maybe that a hug from a friend like me.
