I count to ten
I've held my breath,
my anger is dispersing.

But if my child
does something else,
I'm sure that I'll start cursing.

She is so little
she is so sweet
and she is of my flesh.

Then what on earth
did I do to my parents
to make her turn out so fresh?

I try to learn
from their mistakes
as one generation should from another.

But the way it looks
at this point
she'll never have a sister or brother!

~~for my mom and dad: I’ve finally realized what you meant.
