Passage
s
Slowly, through work and struggle,
The old way passes.
A piece at a time
Our work and love bring us together
In new and fruitful ways.
But in the old that fades
much good remains:
     long walks in summer showers
     and longer talks that last for hours;
     hands that touch in quiet peace
     and lovers arms that reach;
     the hearty laugh of a joke well shared
     and memories of friends that cared.

And as we build our lives,our loves,
we pluck from out the past --
The best, the bold, the beauteous --
To forge a firm foundation
For a truer stronger way.
