The way her eyes shine
Through the smoke-filled bar
When she smiles at you,
Caring, gentle, kind;
You know it is real.
She brushes her hair
From her sapphire eyes.
It falls back down
Across her delicate skin.
She smoothes a wrinkle
Imagined in her skirt
And checks her makeup...smudged.
She laughs and shrugs.
Her makeup smudges well.
She sips her drink,
And sighs softly.
She stands up,
And looks around.
As she turns to leave,
She nods to you and smiles.
Deep down inside,
She knows what you think
When you look at her
And she knows,
And you know,
That she is not yours.
