Peanut butter toast
My sticky mouth
Watered with salt
from my unexplained tears
I started to eat it
And it was not what I wanted.
Peanut butter toast
That brought back bad memories
And stopped my heart
I'm too tired to cry
Old enough to know better
Yet I allowed my mouth to
get stuck again.
I always hated peanut butter toast
So why did I assault my taste buds
And ignore my confused soul?
Weird and always wondering
Aloud,
God how I still hate peanut butter toast!
