I can’t help me hurting you
When you put me on that pedestal
I’ve braced myself so I won’t fall
But something in the height I can’t subdue

Just waiting for me to slip
I dance upon you’re tower
The sweetness of love turns awful sour
And all I can think of is that swelling rip

You’ll realize some day that your heart has a why
That I’m not inside you anymore
I’ll go away to settle my scores
And when I return, I’ll have let the fire lie

Love is all we need for ourselves
But for each other we have more
All the fantasies have flown ashore
And we’re left with the empty shelves

I can’t help me hurting you
When you put me on that pedestal
I’ve braced myself so I won’t fall
But something in the height I can’t subdue

Gaze past the monster that you see
Into the eyes of a little girl
Who’s so exhausted of pearls
And you’ll know why she must flee

I can’t bare to hurt you
All the love I have is strong
But if I stay I’ll do you wrong
And that’s something I just can’t do

If you hate me forever, I’ll be okay
Just as long as you don’t wait
For me to be a better mate
Find someone else, and leave me today

I can’t help me hurting you
When you put me on that pedestal
I’ve braced myself so I won’t fall
But something in the height I can’t subdue
