You said you couldn't breath the air
Your lungs stifled
By the weight of my desire

Nor could you move freely
Your body confined
By my need to keep you from harm

Your eyes blinded
By the very sun
I'd placed you so far above

Your mind in confusion
Trying to balance my acceptance
Against your own self-loathing

You were sure I was deceived
Unable to see how unworthy you were

You'd show me
By throwing a wide, bright spot-light
On every facet of your darkness

Had you become so lost
That you truely couldn't see....

It was YOUR shining soul
That took MY breath away
YOUR inner strength
That held MY darkness in check
YOUR honest beauty
That bedazzeled MY vision

Or had you placed me so far above yourself
That you could no longer look into my eyes
And see yourself.....Loved?

You know, words like soul usually make me cringe in poetry, but this worked. IT was very real and honest, very believable and not over the top. Welcome. Stick around!
