"Peepers"
By: Imking

Peepers was a friend of mine
A friend I never new
He lived his life out on a limb
His death was overdue

He envied the cat with her four legs
and wanted to run and jump
He wished he could sleep without all the fears
curled up in a soft furry clump

The cat, She hated my Peepers
She hated the fact that he flew
He didn't fear dogs because he had wings
what she thought was really not true

Peepers was afraid of heights
and lived close to the ground
Peepers feared the girl next door
and Duke the old blood hound

Peepers lived in Hiding
and watched the furry cat
He loved her despite their differences
sometimes life's just like that

Today he got the courage
some say he lost his head
but he told the cat he loved her
and now my poor Peepers is dead

Peepers now sleeps in my back yard
wrapped in silk and covered with dirt
the cat won his heart in more ways than one
but Peepers no longer will hurt
